Referee Chmielewski worked his first game in NY

The NHLOA would like to congratulate Tom Chimielewski as he worked on tuesday his first NHL regular season game as the Ottawa Senators visited the New-York Islanders at the Nassau Coliseum.  He was joined on the ice by fellow officials Greg Kimmerly, David Brisebois and Mark Shewchyk

The 26 year old native of Colorado Springs, started refereeing youth hockey at an early age. Tom graduated from Colorado State University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in History. While in university, Tom started working games as a part time Linesman in the USA Development program and for the Central Hockey League. After graduating from Colorado State, he worked full time as a Referee in the Development program and had a chance to be the Referee in the 2011 USHL Clark Cup Finals. Also in 2011, he had the chance to attend the NHL Prospect tournament in Traverse City, MI. In 2012, Tom got hired by the ECHL where he officiated for 2 seasons. He worked the 2012 Kelly Cup Finals and has his first games assigned in the American Hockey League. Tom Chmielewski was hired by the NHL in September of 2013. He now resides in Denver, CO.
