CJ Murray – First NHL Game

October 14th, 2021.

Tonight, AHL/NHL linesman CJ Murray will be working his first NHL Regular Season game in Nashville TN when the Seattle Kraken will be visiting the Nashville Predators. He will be joined on the ice by referees Ian Walsh and Pierre Lambert while linesman Libor Suchanek will be working the lines with him.

Murray, a native of Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania, is a former collegiate hockey player. He played four seasons for Nazareth College of Rochester. The former forward also captained the Upper St. Clair Panthers to a Pennsylvania State Championship in 2011. After graduating from college, he wanted to stay involved in the game of hockey and decided to pursue officiating. He worked a few years as a Referee/Linesman in nearby collegiate leagues, and was later invited to the 2019 NHL Exposure Combine held every summer in Buffalo, NY. Following the camp, he was asked to be a linesman in the American Hockey League (AHL) and he also joined the USA Hockey’s Officials Development Program where he skated in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) and the United State Hockey League (USHL). After completing the 2019 season, Murray was invited to be a linesman in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). CJ was offered a NHL Minor League linesman contract in the summer of 2021.

The NHLOA and its members would like to congratulate CJ on his first NHL game and wish him a long and successful career.
