Biography
Blaine Angus started his officiating career in the Quebec town of Shawville in 1976, where he picked up a finger tipped whistle at the age of 15. Blaine found his was to Richmond Hill at 19, when he took a job as an X-Ray Tech. It wasn’t long before the local rinks became his second home.
From there, he worked hard in rinks all over North America, eventually spending 15 years as a professional referee, working in the American Hockey League, International Hockey League, and National Hockey League. Also, in 1991 he officiated in the IIHF World Junior Championship in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
He remains active as a coach for young officials in Richmond Hill in the Ontario Minor Hockey Association and the Ontario Hockey Association.
