Hayden Verbeek

Verbeek, a native of Kingston, Ontario, began his playing career with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the OHL before signing as an undrafted free agent with the Montreal Canadiens. He went on to play professionally in the Canadiens organization with the Laval Rocket of the AHL, before a 2021 trade brought him into the Detroit Red Wings system, where he suited up for the Grand Rapids Griffins. He also spent time playing professionally overseas, suiting up for HK Spišská Nová Ves in Slovakia and Eispiraten Crimmitschau in Germany’s DEL2.

In 2024, Verbeek attended the NHL Officiating Combine, an opportunity that led to his selection to begin working games in the AHL, ECHL, and OHL. His career thus far is highlighted by the 2026 Connor McDavid OHL Top Prospects Game and the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship, where he was one of the officials selected to represent Canada.

In the summer of 2026, he was invited to attend the Exposure Combine for a third year in a row, where he was signed to an NHL minor league contract.
