Biography

Mark Paré is a retired National Hockey League linesman who wore uniform number 79 throughout his career. A native of Windsor, Ontario, Paré began his NHL journey on October 1, 1979, working a game between the Washington Capitals and the Buffalo Sabres.

Over the course of his distinguished career, Paré officiated in 2,169 NHL regular season games, along with 30 playoff contests and two NHL All-Star Games — in Philadelphia in 1992 and Los Angeles in 2002. His career also took him abroad, where he represented the NHL in international competitions in Austria, Helsinki, and Stockholm.

Paré concluded his remarkable three-decade career on April 11, 2010, during a game between the Detroit Red Wings and the Chicago Blackhawks, leaving behind a legacy of consistency and professionalism on the ice.
