Biography
Hautamäki, born and raised in Kuopio, Finland, played junior hockey until he was 16 years old. He decided to join a local referee club and started officiating junior hockey. After rising the ranks in the junior leagues, he was promoted to work in Mestis, the Finnish second league. After 3 years in Mestis he was promoted to Liiga, the Finnish top league, where he officiated for seven years.
He has been nominated to work several international events including U18 World Championship 2022. World Junior Championships 2023 in Halifax and Moncton and 2025 in Ottawa. Spengler Cup 2023 in Davos. World Championships 2023 in Tampere and Riga, 2025 in Stockholm and Herning, 2026 in Zurich and Fribourg. Winter Olympic Games 2026 in Milan.
In December 2025 he had the opportunity to travel to Canada for a week and officiated five games in the American Hockey League.
Onni was hired by the National Hockey League as a minor league linesperson in 2026
